Early Literacy Play Date is back and bigger than ever! Join us Saturday, May 16 at the Newport Branch from 11 am to 2 pm for fun and informative activities all afternoon! In addition to having fun with games, open play spaces and literacy activities, the program aims to connect caregivers of preschoolers to community partners and resources for early learning.
Fun with Learning!
Learning to read can be fun with our early literacy activities and games.
- Stop by our impromptu story time where librarians will be reading, singing and playing all day.
- Learn about letters while developing fine motor skills with Play-Doh letters.
- Explore with our sensory bins.
- Practice literacy and numeracy skills with one of our games.
- Take home the fun with one of our "take and make" flash card activities.
Puppy Tales
Practice reading with therapy dogs! Please register for a time slot by following the link below. We will contact you with your exact appointment times. A limited number of appointments will be reserved for the day of the event and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Book Bus
Board the book bus for a free book to take home! Books are available for all ages.
Developmental Screenings
Set your child up for success by meeting with the Early Childhood Learning Education Assessment Resource Network (EC Learn) for a developmental screening. The Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) is a great tool to learn where your child's strengths and weaknesses lie. EC Learn and/or the library can then help you connect with resources you may need to help your child grow and thrive. As a bonus, EC Learn will be giving out packs of diapers to everyone who fills out a questionnaire while supplies last.
A limited number of walk-in spaces will be available on the day of the event.
Learn About Resources and Schools
Connect with local community partners to find out everything our area has to offer little ones and their families. Attend our preschool fair to find the best learning environment for your early learner!
