LEGO Tower Tumbler by the Brick Mobile
Saturday, June 06
10:30am - 12:30pm
Cold Spring Branch
Cold Spring Meeting RoomLearn about engineering and construction concepts to build tall LEGO structures that can withstand an "earthquake".
Duane Keaton of Brick Mobile will teach us about the history of tall buildings, designs of skyscrapers, the ancient pyramids and real-world construction methods. Students are then given access to thousands of Lego bricks and tasked with building a tower that is both tall and strong enough to survive the tower tumbler device.

Keaton received a Master’s Degree in Art Education from the University of Kentucky in 2004. He taught art and video production in Fayette County Public Schools for 18 years. It is because of Keaton’s background in art and his lifelong interest in LEGO that he has been able to combine his passions to create lessons that mix the creativity of art with STEM content. Keaton is a big believer in LEGO as a medium for creation.

This program was made possible through generous support from the Kentucky Arts Council. The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, provides operating support to Campbell County Public Library and Duane Keaton with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
