This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be struggling with their mental health or substance use, or is experiencing a crisis.
The Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio's First Aid course is a certification course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The course educates you on how to recognize potential risk factors and warning signs for different mental health problems in adults and youths, how to apply a 5-step action plan that helps a person in crisis connect with a professional, how to interpret the mental health statistics and biases in the U.S. and how to distribute treatment and recovery resources to those who need them. Be the change in your workplace and community.
There will be two 15-minute breaks throughout the day, along with an hour lunch break where food will be provided.
