Dr. Eric Jackson of the NKU History and Geography Department returns again to join us for the 13th Annual City BBQ Food for Thought Series to explore the Underground Railroad and 250 Years of U.S. History in the classroom.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, educators have a unique opportunity—and responsibility—to guide students through a deeper understanding of the nation’s complex journey. This milestone invites us not only to celebrate progress but also to critically examine the struggles and sacrifices that have shaped our democracy. The presentation focuses on these themes, with a lens on the states of Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
Dr. Eric Jackson has almost 25 years of academic experience at the university level. He teaches in the fields of American and African American History/Studies, Race Relations and Peace Studies. He has over 50 publications, including in journals such as Africology: The Journal of Pan African Studies, the Journal of African American History and the International Journal of World Peace. Dr. Jackson recently received two awards for his community outreach work: the Goodwill Ambassador for the Golden Rule Award and the Second International World Civility Award from IChange Nations.
The talk will be filmed by Campbell Media and will air the following week on Sunday and Wednesday at 4:30 pm on CCMC (Cincinnati Bell Ch. 810 and Spectrum Ch. 202). It is also available on the Campbell Media Website or the Campbell Media App on Apple TV and Roku.

The Cable Board administers the cable television franchise agreement with Spectrum and Cincinnati Bell Extended Territories. The Board is made up of representatives from government agencies.
Campbell Media's goal is to reach out to its community by providing a wide range of media tools and mechanisms while maintaining a direct outlet for community programming through cable channels.
"We’re proud to serve the flavor of America. Every day, we’re smoking tastes of the nation, from Kansas City to the Carolinas, and sharing our passion for the art and soul of BBQ."
"We're serious about supporting our friends and neighbors in the communities we serve. That's why we host thousands of fundraisers for local charities and nonprofits every year (and donate 10% of our pre-tax profits)." - Rick, CEO and Founder
