Dr. Andrea Sutherland of the NKU History and Geography Department returns to join us for the 13th Annual City Barbecue Food for Thought Series to shed light on the year that made the United States.
Step into the dramatic world of 1776: a year of bold declarations, battlefield heroics and everyday courage. This engaging presentation explores how political vision, military struggle and personal experiences came together to shape the birth of the United States. Discover the dramatic events and diverse voices that made 1776 the year that changed everything.
Dr. Andrea Sutherland focuses on United States history to 1877. She enjoys teaching courses from the early colonial period through the Civil War, and she is well-versed in the history of Kentucky and the American South. Her research interests are focused on the Early Republic period of United States history, with an emphasis on Kentucky in the 1800s, family and community life and slavery.
The talk will be filmed by Campbell Media and airs the following week on Sunday and Wednesday at 4:30 pm on CCMC (Cincinnati Bell Ch. 810 and Spectrum Ch. 202). It is also available on the Campbell Media Website or the Campbell Media App on Apple TV and Roku.
Campbell Media is a service of the Campbell County Cable Board. The Cable Board was created by an Interlocal Agreement between the Campbell County Fiscal Court and 11 local cities within the County. The member cities are Highland Heights, Alexandria, Bellevue, Southgate, Wilder, Silver Grove, Melbourne, Crestview, Woodlawn, California, Mentor and Fiscal Court serving the unincorporated county. The Cable Board administers the cable television franchise agreement with Spectrum and Cincinnati Bell Extended Territories. The Board is made up of representatives from government agencies.
