The Lineup

This year’s theme is Legends at the Library, which means all-things fantasy. The Newport Branch will kick off the series with Fantasy Costume Accessories on Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 3:30-5 pm. Spend the afternoon crafting everything from potion bottles to horns to wands. Whether you want to go in costume to your next Dungeons & Dragons game, are planning ahead for the Renaissance Faire season or just want to have some magical fun, this is for you!

Next up is Fantasy Movie Night on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 5-6:30 pm at the Alexandria Branch. Bring your friends and get ready for a night filled with laughter, adventure and snacks! After a chill movie night, set your sights on DIY Dragon Castles, which is held from 4:30-6 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch. Create your own castle fit for a dragon!

Closing out the series is Mini Mayhem from 5:30-7 pm Friday, Feb. 28 at the Cold Spring Branch. Bring legends to life by designing your very own 3-D minifigure using the library’s software. The figures are perfect for use in games like Dungeons & Dragons and Call of Cthulhu. Staff will print your creations after the program, which can be picked up at a later date.

The Scavenger Hunt

Make like a hobbit and traverse our branches in search of hidden fantasy creatures. Each branch will have six to find: a jackalope, dragon, griffin, phoenix, unicorn and nine-tales.

Want to participate? Grab a card at any branch and fill in the creatures’ locations to win a sticker sheer! You can enter multiple times for the chance to win a prize basket.
