Short Story and Poetry Slam

Monday, April 28, 2025
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us at the Cold Spring branch for an open mic night!

We are celebrating the end of National Poetry Month with a short story and poetry slam as we announce the winners of our month-long writing contest. Not comfortable sharing your own work? That’s fine! You are welcome to bring a favorite poem or short story to share.

The Writing Contest Rules

There are two categories of Poetry and Short Story (max 350 words) for each of the two age groups. Age groups are 13 – 18 for Teen and 18+ for Adult. If you are 18, please do one age group only. One submission per category for all ages. All stories or poetry must be submitted via email at cgerner@cc-pl.org or in person at the Cold Spring Branch. In the subject line please use “April Writing Contest entry”, your name and which category you are entering so that Clara Gerner knows. Staff will anonymously judge which is the best in each age group, and writing category. Winners will be announced first at the Cold Spring Branch on Monday, April 28th at 6 PM during the Poetry Jam program. Winners will receive a small prize. All rights for the original work stays with the creator, but may be shared via the library Social Media with the author’s permission.

All entries must be sent in by April 21st at 9 PM
