Thursday, August 22, 2019
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Presidents have been visiting Kentucky since 1819, arriving by horseback, carriage, train, steamboat, bus and airplane. In total, there have been around 120 presidential visits to the Bluegrass State.
Which president made the most visits to Kentucky?
Which president was born here, but did not visit while in office?
What Kentucky tradition brought four men who had or would hold office together in the state of Kentucky?
Former State Librarian Wayne Onkst can answer all that and more when he comes to speak about his book “Presidential Visits to Kentucky.” Beginning with President Monroe and ending with President Trump, Onkst chronicles all 27 presidents who visited the state. Learn the history and hear the stories about who they met, why they visited and what they did while in the Bluegrass State.
