City BBQ Food for Thought Series: Beatlemania In America

Dr. Burke Miller of the NKU History and Geography Department returns to kick off the 12th-annual City BBQ Food for Thought Series to discuss The Beatles.
When the Beatles launched their invasion of the US in 1964, few fans foresaw how the group’s unprecedented popularity would reshape not only the music industry, but society itself. Join us in listening to some Beatles’ favorites and figuring out what they tell us about 1960s America.

About the Presenter
Dr. Miller currently serves as the Chair of the Department of History and Geography and as the Director of Social Studies, a role in which he works extensively with the College of Education, teacher trainees, and area schools in a variety of endeavors. His book, Inequity in Education: A Historical Perspective, edited with Debra Meyers and published by Lexington Books/Rowman-Littlefield (2009), addresses the complexity of teaching under served groups in American public schools.

The member cities are Highland Heights, Alexandria, Bellevue, Southgate, Wilder, Silver Grove, Melbourne, Crestview, Woodlawn, California, Mentor and Fiscal Court serving the unincorporated county. The Cable Board administers the cable television franchise agreement with Spectrum and Cincinnati Bell Extended Territories. The Board is made up of representatives from government agencies.
