DIY Tutorial: Mermaid Crafts
Have you always wanted to live under the sea? Swim away your days? We can’t do that for you, but we can celebrate all things mermaid.

Mermaid Corner Bookmark
Supplies Needed:
- 3 squares of paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pen
- Glitter (optional)
Step 1
Take one sheet of paper. This will be the base of your bookmark.
Step 2
Fold the sheet to create a triangle.
Step 3
Fold the bottom right corner up to the top.
Step 4
Fold the bottom left corner to the top.
Step 5
Unfold the sides and fold the front point down (only half the sheet).
Step 6
Fold the bottom right edge up and tuck into the pocket you made from folding down the top corner.
Step 7
Fold the bottom left edge into the pocket.
Step 8
Flip the paper over. You now have the base of your bookmark.
Step 9
Round off the sides.
Step 10
Round off the top.
Step 11
Trace your bookmark on one of the colors to create hair.
Step 12
Trim to create a hair style for your mermaid. Cut a triangle for the tail and fins.
Step 13
Draw a face and some scales for the tail.
Step 14 (Optional)
Add glitter to the scales and hair.
Mermaid Hair Clip
Supplies Needed:
- Hair Pin
- Sand Dollar
- Glitter
- Glue
- Either craft glue or hot glue
Step 1
Glue the pin to the back of the sand dollar. If you are using craft glue, give it some time to set.
Step 2
Place glue on the top of the sand dollar to create a design.
Step 3
Sprinkle with glitter.
Step 4
Shake off excess glitter.
Step 5
Enjoy your new hair clip!
Mermaid Tail Pendant
Supplies Needed:
- Polymer Clay
- Gems
- Wire
- Glue
- Glitter (optional)
Step 1
Break your clay into three pieces.
Step 2
Create the fins of your mermaid tail with two of the pieces.
Step 3
Take the third piece of clay and use it to attach the fins and create the top of your tail.
Step 4
Add gems to decorate your tail.
Step 5
Push wire through the top of your tail.
Step 6
Bend your wire to create a loop.
Step 7
Bake the clay for 30 minutes at 275 degrees and let cool. When cooled, twist the wire to close the loop.
Step 8 (Optional)
If you want a glittery tail, add glue to cooled clay and sprinkle with glitter.
Step 9
Enjoy your mermaid tail!
