Arts & Culture 2025

Every May, local classical groups bring can’t-miss performances to the Fort Thomas Branch. Mark your calendars for a month of music.
This year’s Arts & Culture Series is perfect for jazz and classical fans, or anyone who appreciates a good tune. Get jazzy and unwind with Greater Cincinnati staples on the Northern Kentucky side of the river.
All three programs take place on Fridays at 7 pm. The Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch will be curbside only from 5-7 pm as they prepare for each evening’s Arts & Culture Series event.
Kentucky Symphony Orchestra: Floodwall Jazz Quartet
Ushering in the month is the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra’s Floodwall Jazz Quartet on May 2. KSO returns with a performance of Claude Bolling’s jazz suites. Born in Cannes, France, the late Bolling was a leading figure in the French jazz scene starting in the early 1950s.
He composed suites for classical music’s elite, including Jean Pierre Rampal (flute), Yo-Yo Ma (cello), Pinchas Zukerman (violin), Maurice Andre (trumpet) and George Shearing (guitar). The suites combine jazz stylings with traditional classical forms for a listenable and relaxing experience.
Silver’s Serenade: A Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra Tribute to Horace Silver

Eric Lechliter will lead the CCJO quintet in renditions of “Sister Sadie,””Nica’s Dream,””Strollin” and more. Silver helped pioneer a hard bop style of jazz in the 1950s and form the Jazz Messengers, an influential jazz group whose work spanned 35 years, 47 studio albums, 27 live albums, two soundtracks, six compilations and one boxed set.
Summermusik Brass Quintet
