Learning how to play Mah-jongg

Wednesday, October 16, 2024
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

According to Time Magazine, Mah-jongg was developed in the mid-to-late 1800s around the Yangtze River Delta, one of China’s metropolitan regions. Near the end of the century, the game’s popularity had spread across China, but mostly in cities like Shanghai and Beijing. Usually played by four people, Mah-jongg is a game played with a set of 136 or 144 rectangular pieces called tiles; the objective is to collect winning sets, as done in games like gin rummy.

Join us as at Cold Spring as we learn how to play, and then compete for who is the best!
