Walk a Picture Path!

Walk, play and read together along one of the library’s Picture Paths.

The double-sided displays show a children’s story book in one direction and fun facts about local wildlife on the other. The paths also include fun, interactive activities.

New this year is a path at Southgate Community Center Park. At the time this blog was posted, one side features In the Small, Small Pond by Denise Fleming, a story about all the creatures that live in a small pond. (The stories alternate on a month-to-month basis.)

Once you reach the end, look straight ahead—and maybe even stand on your tippy toes—to take in the park’s lake.

Now walk back the opposite way; the display’s flip side features facts about slithery snakes! Don’t forget to take the midway dance break.

Picture Paths are on display in the spring, summer and fall months.

AJ Jolly Park

There’s also a picture path at Alexandria’s AJ Jolly Park (1501 Race Track Rd)! This year, the path will feature Splish, Splash, Ducky by Lucy Cousins!

Please Note: There is a fee of $9 per car to enter AJ Jolly Park.
