Teen Summer Reading Finale: A Trip Through Time

We’re taking adventure to the next level at our epic summer reading finale! Become a Viking with local organization the Bluegrass Varangians, play retro video games on vintage consoles, get creative with crafts from centuries past and more. Time travel can be hungry work, so there will be plenty of snacks available as well.
The Bluegrass Varangians are a Viking Age reenactment troupe based out of Blue Lantern upon the Rus Vikings who were known to the Byzantines as Varangians. These were Vikings who traveled East from Scandinavia into the lands that today are known as Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia. Known for their prowess in battle and fierce loyalty, the Vikings of Kievan Rus were formed into the elite personal bodyguard of the Byzantine Emperor and were known as the Varangian Guard. The Bluegrass Varangians are led by Jarl Kveldúlfr Snowbear, also known as Sifu Dane Griffith of Blue Lantern Martial Arts in Elsmere, KY. They can be seen in action at the local Renaissance festivals in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
