DIY Tutorial: Figurine-ing It Out!
Enjoy an easy and stress-free afternoon of painting your own cute figurines.
The tutorial was created by Cody Elliott, the Adult/Teen programmer at our Newport Branch. If you have any questions about the tutorial, please email him at celliott@cc-pl.org.
Supplies Needed
- Figurine
- Paints (red, yellow, blue, green and white)
- Paint brush
- Cup of water
- Paper towels
- Paper plate
Step 1
Once you have your materials laid out, it is time to start painting. You may want to lay out paper towels or newspaper to keep your workspace clean.
Step 2
Every time you add a layer of paint, let it dry completely before adding another color. Wet paint will mix with wet paint and you may end up with a color you were not trying to achieve.
Step 3
To get even more creative, try mixing your colors to find a new shade to make your figure pop. The Take & Make kit provided you with the most basic primary colors. However, you might want to mix those colors for a more desired color, like purple or orange.
Here is a video where painter Vered Thalmeier shows you the best way to mix paints. You can use a paper plate to mix your colors together.
